Tech support: The customer tells me that any inbound call IS NOT being answered by the AA, and it is auto-routed to either ext. 11 or 31.

Solution to the AA:

I figured it out. After the [factory] reset for some reason, I suspect that there is some sort of bug. I accidentally found out that there is no language pack installed after the reset. This might be only related to the 3.1.21 firmware update. Resetting the unit might not save the language pack. I basically downloaded from their tech support section and uploaded this and all is okay. Everything is working thus far and I am really happy with the unit.

I need to be able to tune out an echo I am getting with Epygi Quadro 2x. Just about every outbound call has echo on the line [customer is using the Broadvoice ITSP service].

This issue is fixed by changing the FXO receive gain to 0. By default it is set to 6.

Overview of cost:

I think I am going to cancel Vonage now that I have this up and running. I really cannot beat the rate that I am getting at BroadVoice. $10 for unlimitted in-state calling. I do not call out of state often and when I do I use my cell phone. I pay $5 for my measured rate for AT&T for the land line. So basically I pay for $15 a month base rate. If in the future I need to upgrade my plan I could just upgrade to the $20 plan and I can expand to entire US and 21 countries free calling for the price of what Vonage is charging. So basically for the price of the PBX, I really get the flexibility of 2 to 3 in/out bound calls at home without having to pay the local telco expensive monthly rates for a 2 to 3 line setup.

Here is my home setup:

First floor: I have an Apple Airport Express (very small and helps spread my wi-fi coverage in the house) hooked up to my Entertainment system (use for
iTunes)

Second floor: Wi-fi base unit that I got for free when I used to have SBC for internet access (now Comcast/Time Warner) and IP phone (Grandstream Budgetone) for the Office where my internet modem is setup. I have a small 5 port linksys switch. PBX is plugged in to this same switch. Wi-fi access point, switch, and internet modem will be replaced with 1 unit Linksys wi-fi cable modem router so that I have only 2 devices, PBX and the Wi-fi Router.

Advantage, I believe with full coverage on the house both downstairs and upstairs, I can get a VOIP phone as long as it has the functionality to enter WEP for security.

I pretty much have a business solution at home. I have a PBX at home at a very affordable rate. That is kinda cool. I never thought I would see it in my lifetime I would implement a PBX solution, more or less do that at home.

Plan for the future:

I will probably purchase another unit for our Dental Practice that we just purchased. Once I have it setup there and tested fully both at home and at the office, I think I will try to implement this at a layer 3 environment and see how the BOOTP configs are and hope that DHCP relay agents at each VLAN will pass the traffic throughout the network. I need to get with our network guy to see how the QOS will be implemented or maybe just put all the IP phones on 1 VLAN. I am curious to see how the network design is on an enterprise level.
