TalkSwitch® Upgrades Customers to Free IP Extensions with Software Release 4.0
TalkSwitch becomes first to let small businesses create their own mix of IP and analog local extensions

OTTAWA, ON â€" November 28, 2006 â€" TalkSwitch®, an industry leader in the design and manufacture of innovative telephone systems for small and multi-location businesses, today announced the release of TalkSwitch configuration software version 4.0, a significant upgrade that increases the functionality and flexibility of all TalkSwitch systems.

Available as a free download, release 4.0 offers a number of important additions to the TalkSwitch feature set. Most significantly, local extensions on TalkSwitch systems can now be enabled as either analog or IP, converting those systems to fully hybrid IP PBXs. Users are able to set the mix of IP and analog extensions they want, allowing them to customize the system to fit their specific business needs.

“This release is a major milestone for our company and our customers,†said Jan Scheeren, President and CEO, TalkSwitch. “TalkSwitch is the only company on the market to give its small business customers complete freedom to set its mix of analog and IP local extensions, and its mix of PSTN and VoIP trunks. TalkSwitch handles those configurations equally. It is a major breakthrough in choice, and in flexibility for the small business market.â€

Existing TalkSwitch customers can get the new IP extension capability in minutes, and new customers choosing TalkSwitch will benefit from a system that offers even more value than before. For companies looking to migrate to an all-IP communications environment, being able to use IP extensions with TalkSwitch makes for a smooth evolutionary path.

In addition to enabling IP extensions, release 4.0 adds a number of other features designed to improve and streamline user communications. E-mail notification of new voicemail messages, including sending the voicemail as a .wav file for playback, has been added, and the number of remote extensions on each unit has been increased to 10. A programmable holiday mode scheduler that provides unique call handling settings for specific dates has also been added.

Existing TalkSwitch customers can download the new release by visiting www.talkswitch.com/support. New TalkSwitch systems will come preloaded with the software.
